High Level Graduate Programs

Central University of Finance and economics (CUFE) is located in Beijing, the capital of China, enjoying convenient transportation and a superior geographical location. It is a university directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Finance and Beijing Municipal Government, and is one of the first universities selected for the national "Double First-Class" Initiative, the "Project 211" and the first batch of "Project 985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines". The University is home to Applied Economics, a national "Double First-Class" discipline, which was rated A+ in the fourth round of China's national discipline evaluation.

CUFE is the first new-type university of finance and economics established by the Central People's Government after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the years, the University has cultivated more than 200,000 high-caliber talents at all levels for national economic construction and social development, which is hailed as "the cradle of China's finance and management experts".

The University has 16 first-level disciplines authorized to grant master’s degrees in Public Administration, Sociology, Mathematics, etc., and 21 professional master’s degree authorization points in Business Administration, Law, Public Administration, Finance, Auditing, etc., as well as 7 first-level disciplines authorized to grant doctoral degrees in Applied Economics, Theoretical Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Marxist Theory, Law, and Management Science and Engineering.

Eligibility

Non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health,

Applicants for master’s programs shall generally be under 35 years of age and hold a bachelor’s degree or above. Applicants for PhD programs shall generally be under 40 years of age and hold a master’s degree,

The requirements set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met for CUFE applicants as well.

Application Procedure

List of Application Documents

1. CSC Application Form.

2. CUFE Application form (automatically generated in the CUFE International Student Service System). Please note that the scanned electronic signed copy of the application form must be uploaded to the attachment section.

3. The photo page of the passport.

4. Graduation certificate of the previous level of study; for pending graduates, a pre-graduation certificate issued by the current institution (including the expected graduation date, academic performance) is required.

5. The academic transcripts.

6. Language proficiency certificate.

Programs offered in Chinese: HSK-5 210 or above; Programs offered in English: IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, DUOLINGO or other standardized test results or other proof of English proficiency.

7. Study plan (about 1000 words).

8. Master’s thesis or other thesis paper (PhD applicants only).

9. TWO recommendation letters (the recommender must be an associate professor or a scholar with a corresponding title or above).

10. The Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

11. The Non-Criminal Record (issued by the local police office).

Notes on Application Documents

Regardless of whether an applicant is admitted, all application materials and the application fee are non-refundable.

Application materials must be in Chinese or English. Application materials not in Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation.

Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of the information they provide and the materials they submit. In case of any discrepancy with the facts, CUFE has the right to cancel the applicant’s admission qualification and to revoke the student status of those who have already been enrolled.

Entrance Assessment

Applicants who have passed the document review are required to participate in the online interview. The detailed information for interview will be notified via email. Therefore, the email address left in the application system must be the applicant’s personal email, authentic and permanently valid.

Admission

The university will select candidates for submission to CSC on the basis of interview results and proposed admission lists provided by each school. The CSC will conduct expert review. Upon completion of the review, the university will announce the official scholarship recipient list.

Review of Documents

After admission, the University will re-verify the application materials of newly-admitted students; if any violation is found, the University has the right to withdraw the admission decision and cancel the admission qualification.

Registration

All international students must purchase medical insurance before entering China. For details, please refer to the Insurance Payment Guide (https://sice.cufe.edu.cn/info/1088/7369.htm).

All international students must register according to the time notified in the “Registration Notice Email”. Those who fail to register on time without a written explanation of justified reasons will be treated as having given up. The fall semester starts in early September 2027 (the specific date is subject to actual notice).

Re-examination and Review of Admission Qualification

The University will conduct a re-examination and review of admission qualification at registration and after enrollment respectively. If it is found that the admission notice, the declared application information or other supporting materials held by a student do not match the student’s actual situation, or involve fraud or deception during the review, the student will be determined as unqualified, and the freshman admission qualification or the acquired student status will be cancelled.
