SICE participated in China Higher Education Fair "Into Africa"

From October 16 to 17, and from October 22 to 23, 2007, the "2007 China Education Fair", organized by China Scholarship Council , was respectively held in Nairobi, Kenya and South Africa Cape Town. It was our first time in Kenya (last year in Kenya, we held China's higher education briefing session), and our third time of China Education Fair held in South Africa.  

 

A total of 28 Chinese universities took part in that China Education Fair in Africa. There were seven universities from Beijing such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Language and Culture University, Tsinghua University, Capital University of Economics and Business, and Central University of Finance and Economics. The Vice-president of the School of International Cultural Exchange of our university, Zhang Qi Kun, has attended the exhibition in Africa. It was the first time for our university, in recent years, to attend to an event organized by the CSC.

 

China Scholarship Council  commissioned by the Ministry of Education, and responsible for Chinese Government Scholarship for international students’ enrollment, plans to organize every year "Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under Chinese Government Scholarship Programs” abroad to carry out recruitment propaganda. Now, at least 120 universities have been approved by the Ministry of Education to accept Chinese Government Scholarship students, with 31 universities in Beijing.

 

During the Education Fair, we have actively carried out recruitment propaganda, made contact with the local universities and study abroad agencies for preliminary talks and further admissions. By accepting student counseling, we have found that the potential demands for study in China were relatively large. Furthermore, since the official language of those two countries is English, the demands for academic education and professional training project taught in English, in particular master's, doctorate programs and advanced professional training were very important.

 

In short, through our participation in that education exhibition, we have achieved our goal, and obtained the first results. During the exhibition, we have received application forms from doctorate and advanced professional training of students. At the present time, the SICE has begun to receive visits intention for study projects, related advice and discuss further cooperation from the two countries.
