To improve students’ humanities and arts sentiment, and to enrich amateur student life, the college organized on March 31 a visit to the exhibition of American art. 22 students, led by Ding Guoying teacher of the SICE, went to China Art Museum to visit the "Three Hundred Years of American Art - adaptation and innovation," large-scale exhibitions, and participated in the exhibition after the seminar.The art show is by far the largest in China, the first major exhibition of American art that fully reflect the development process. The Exhibition opening ceremony was on February 9 and will continue until April 5 at the China Art Gallery.
This exhibition brings together 120 artists and more than 130 art works, spanning from the early eighteenth century North America, the colonial era, to early 2000s with various stages of contemporary American history, that systematically outlined 300 years of American art development. These works are from dozens of museums and collections in Europe and USA, including the Terra Foundation and the Guggenheim Foundation. After several years of preparation, so we were able to hold in China the American Art exhibition, which has been already implemented in USA. The Exhibition was sponsored by the China Art Gallery, and jointly prepared by the New York • R • Solomon Guggenheim Foundation and the Terra Foundation for American Art in Chicago. After Beijing, the exhibition tour will continue to Shanghai and other countries.
Through the exhibition, we learned the development of American art. After the exhibition, everyone was very satisfied of the high levels of the exhibition. We all have learnt something new.
